Digital postal company combats climate change through tree planting scheme
Following Postworks’ carbon neutrality announcement last month, the digital postal company is adding another string to its ‘green bow’.
In the process of digitising inbound and outbound business post for its customers, Postworks handles a lot of paper. The key difference is that Postworks will replace all the trees consumed on behalf of its customers, plus more.
Effective immediately, for every 10 trees’ worth of paper Postworks uses, it will plant 11. That equates to thousands of trees being planted around the world every year through its tree planting scheme.
Making business post environmentally positive
At the recent COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, more than 100 world leaders promised to end and reverse deforestation by 2030.
As an industry leader in online post and business mail, Postworks takes its responsibility to set higher environmental standards seriously.
James Booker, Postworks CSO, explains the importance of setting standards within the postal industry:
“We here at Postworks are proving post can be, not just sustainable, but environmentally positive.”
Building a greener future for post
All envelopes and paper used by Postworks are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the international organisation that promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests.
Additionally, 99% of the paper and cardboard waste generated through Postworks is recycled, helping to reduce the environmental impact of printing and sending business post.
The next 12 months promise to bring another year of exciting environmental announcements as the company’s trailblazing Environmental Strategy is fulfilled through further investment in green energy, supply chain improvements and increased efficiency across its production processes.
Through its carbon neutrality commitments, FSC-certified materials and tree planting scheme, Postworks is working to make sustainable business post easier for organisations across the UK.
