Postworks relocates to facilitate increased demand
This article was originally published during the Coronavirus lockdown period and reflects the circumstances at that time.
Following significant business growth and investment in new equipment, online mailing company Postworks moved to larger premises, doubling its production capacity.
As more organisations began looking for a way to send business post remotely, demand for the Postworks online print and post service increased.
The larger premises gave the team more room to support new customers, invest in production equipment and prepare the business for further growth.
Demand for online print and post services increases
The practical benefits of an online print and post service became much clearer when offices closed and employees began working from home.
A franking machine, office printer and pile of envelopes could not move home with every member of staff. Important customer letters, financial documents and public information still needed to be sent.
Postworks gave organisations a cloud-based alternative to franked postage. Teams could upload their documents online without needing access to the usual office equipment.
The browser-based Postworks platform allowed users to drag and drop their post for electronic sorting, printing and folding at the secure Postworks production centre before it was handed to Royal Mail for delivery.
Maintaining security and service during the move
The move to the new site caused no disruption to customers. Security and customer experience were maintained throughout the transition.
The extra space also allowed production engineers to continue working while following the social distancing guidance in place at the time.
James Booker, Founder and CSO at Postworks, said:
“Perhaps growth during this crisis can be seen as bittersweet, but it’s reassuring to us that we are supporting thousands of organisations during such turbulent times.
It isn’t really feasible for employees working from home to take the franking machine and printer from the office during lockdown, so having a service they can send post from home with, using just the internet, makes a lot of sense.
Our team has gone the extra yard in helping small businesses, the NHS and even whole councils switch over to online franking.
That’s testament to the dedicated team that is Postworks.”
Helping organisations send post remotely
Postworks responded to the urgency created by the Coronavirus pandemic by onboarding some customers, including local councils, within 24 hours.
Organisations that needed to continue sending essential post, including NHS teams and financial institutions, were able to manage their outbound mail remotely without relying on access to their usual office equipment.
Businesses from a range of sectors used the Postworks platform to upload documents from home or another location, while the production team handled the physical printing and preparation.
The relocation increased the capacity available to support those organisations and gave Postworks more room to continue scaling.
Building capacity for further Postworks growth
The move was an important step in the growth of Postworks, giving the business the production space and equipment needed to support increased demand.
It also demonstrated how online mailing services could help organisations keep important communications moving when traditional office processes were no longer practical.
