Postworks is the first online postal company to be carbon neutral
Ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference next month, Postworks are pleased to announce that they are carbon neutral. The team has worked with an environment consultant to generate a carbon footprint report for 2020-2021 in order to offset their carbon. Postworks are investing in a 100.5 Megawatt wind power project.
The carbon neutral goal has been on Postworks agenda since day one of operating, after all, there is no planet B.
The postal industry is responsible for lots of paper usage and vehicle miles, but true to their disruptor nature, Postworks opts to do it differently. And what a lot of work they’ve done, pushing hard to complete this momentous feat by World Post Day on 9th October 2021.
Nikki Dingle, Postworks Business and Project Manager, said:
“It’s an amazing step forward and a long awaited aim of the Postworks team to become carbon neutral. We believe that every person has a part to play in protecting the planet for future generations.”
For so many of Postworks’ customers, post is regulatory and vital to the smooth running of their organisation. However, as people become more aware of the climate crisis and want to play their part, Postworks wanted to put their minds at ease and give them one more option when it comes to choosing sustainability.
Organisations now can use Postworks even more confidently than before, knowing that their supplier is helping them on their journeys to becoming greener.
The carbon footprint calculated for this project is in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol emission scopes, which is the most widely used, and accepted methodology for greenhouse gas accounting. It categorises emissions into three groups or ‘scopes’: direct emissions, indirect emissions within direct control and indirect emissions outside of direct control.
James Booker, Postworks CEO, said:
“This is a project of particular importance to me. It’s not just a responsibility of businesses, it should be an expectation to take active steps to protect this planet. After all, it’s the only one we’ve got.”
Since the launch of Postworks Receive™, the flexible digital inbound post service, Postworks has offered customers a completely paper free solution for the office. Becoming carbon neutral is a giant leap for Postworks, as they now have even less of an impact on the environment. The next steps for Postworks are to develop a carbon footprint reporting tool to show customers environmental data of their usage, in real time.
